DIAMANTAKOS: "THE ATMOSPHERE WAS SUPERB – LIKE A GREEK DERBY"
After completing his move last Thursday, Dimitrios Diamantakos made his first appearance in St. Pauli colours against Darmstadt on Sunday. His debut may have ended in defeat, but the 24-year-old striker was no less impressed. Though Diamantakos hopes to score as many goals as possible, of course, he attaches far more importance to the success of the team rather than his own personal targets.

Weeks after reporting that his car was shot at on a German motorway, midfielder Deniz Naki has been banned from Turkish football for more than three years. The Amed SK player is a supporter of Turkey's Kurds.

BOYS IN BROWN SUNK BY LONE DARMSTADT STRIKE
In front of a sell-out crowd at the Millerntor the Boys in Brown lost the opening home game of 2018 by the only goal to SV Darmstadt 98 on Sunday afternoon. Markus Kauczinski's side enjoyed plenty of possession and created some decent chances after Joevin Jones had given his side a seventh-minute lead, but for all their efforts they were unable to find the net.

Head coach Markus Kauczinski and his players set off by train from Dresden to Hamburg at 10.55 on Friday morning. Almost immediately after arriving the 47-year-old made his way to the Millerntor Stadium to take questions from the media ahead of Sunday's visit of SV Darmstadt 98 (1330 CET).
