FC St. Pauli

Several players shook off the exertions of Tuesday and were up early on Day 2 to go jogging in Central Park, which has now become an obligatory part of any visit to New York, it seems. Flo Carstens, Korbi Müller and Richy Neudecker were among those who went out for a run before meeting up with the rest of the party.

Then, at eight o'clock, the St. Pauli delegation headed off for the German Consulate General. Thanks to Shawn Roggenkamp, a born & bred New Yorker and member of the local branch of the supporters club, the East River Pirates, there was no need for Google Maps or a street plan. She guided the visiting party through the streets of her city, sharing some exciting insights along the way. 

Before their nine o'clock appointment at the Consulate General, the Boys in Brown stopped off at the 202-metre-high Trump Tower, where they sent out a clear message by raising a number of rainbow flags!

On arrival at the Consulate, the delegation members were welcomed and shown around by Consul General Mr David Gill. What we can say is this: diplomats cut a fine figure in a St. Pauli shirt! The walking tour then continued in the direction of Central Park. The city's "green lung" was the perfect spot for the Boys in Brown to take a breather, and a host of photos, before setting off for the next sight.

To save their legs, the Boys in Brown continued their tour on the FCSP bus, which took them via Brooklyn Bridge to one of the Big Apple's biggest attractions, the Empire State Building. There, Robin Himmelmann and Co. took the lift to the viewing platform to savour the magnificent views of the city from way up high.

After lunch, the next leg of the tour took the delegation to a must-see for any New York visitor, the Statue of Liberty! There was only time to view the attraction from a distance at the Statue of Liberty Vista Point, however, as the next item on the itinerary was waiting, an extensive walk across Brooklyn Bridge in the bright sunshine.

From there the Boys in Brown got back on the FCSP bus to visit the Rabauken Soccer Camp, where our Little Rascals have joined with the local Chelsea Piers Soccer Club to organise a three-against-three soccer camp on Tuesday and Wednesday. As you would expect, the players didn't pass up the opportunity for a kickabout.

After signing hundreds of autographs, the Boys in Brown set off for their final destination, the Knitting Factory in Brooklyn, for an evening of vibrant punk rock.
