Impressive run

As recent results show, getting the better of SSV Jahn Regensburg is anything but easy at the moment. Achim Beierlorzer's side are unbeaten in eight games. Three wins on the bounce were followed by four draws before Jahn got back to winning ways with a 3-2 victory at Magdeburg. Only one other team have not lost a game since the penultimate September weekend and that is Union Berlin, who have yet to taste defeat all season. The only team to pick up more points than Regensburg (16) in this period is our very own St. Pauli (17).

Prolific strike pairing

With 24 goals scored, Regensburg possess the third most potent attacking force in the league. The strike pairing of Marco Grüttner and Sargis Adamyan account for half of this tally. The tireless Grüttner, who has already covered a distance of 151.53 kilometres in 13 matches, a mark bettered only by Fürth's Sebastian Ernst (155,71 km), has already found the net seven times. Five of the SSV captain's goals have come in the last seven league matches. Five is also the number of goals scored by Adamyan, who has made the second-highest number of sprints (385) behind Heidenheim's Nikola Dovedan (389) and whose top speed (34.57 km/h) is surpassed only by 12 players, including Dimitrios Diamantakos (34.98 km/h) and Ryo Miyaichi (34.87 km/h). In the 5-0 victory at HSV, Regensburg's highest-ever second-division win, Dovedan scored three goals in succession in just 24 minutes.

Bad boy Geipl

Johannes Flum will miss the trip to Regensburg after receiving his fifth booking of the season at home against Heidenheim. Regensburg's Andreas Geipl saw his fifth yellow some time ago (in round 8) and since serving a one-match ban at Fürth has picked up another two. His total of seven cautions puts him top of the yellow cards table along with Paderborn's Klaus Gjasula, who missed matchday 9 through suspension.

Unlucky Saller

A total of 358 goals have been scored in the 13 rounds of matches so far, including nine own goals. No St. Pauli player has put through his own net yet, but Regensburg's Benedikt Saller has. That was at Bielefeld when he headed a long ball from Arminia's Manuel Prietl past Jahn custodian Philipp Pentke unchallenged to leave his side 3-2 down. Regensburg had come back to equalise twice before that and they did it again to make it 3-3, only to succumb 5-3 in the end.

Contrasting goals against stats

Regensburg have shipped 20 goals in their first 13 matches, only five teams have conceded more. In the first half they have let in more goals more than any other team (11), yet in the final quarter of an hour plus stoppage time their defence has been quite formidable and only two goals have been conceded in this time. It is a similar story for the Boys in Brown, who have shipped nine before half-time and just three in the last 15 minutes plus time added on.

Good morale

The Boys in Brown have proved very resilient after going behind this season, and the same goes for Regensburg, who like us have picked up ten points after falling behind. Regensburg have been handed the task of coming from behind nine times, going on to win twice and draw four times. The Boys in Brown, in comparison, have gone behind eight times and come back to win three games. Against Heidenheim last time out they rescued a point after going a goal down.
