DFL ASSEMBLY SUSPENDS COMPETITION UNTIL AT LEAST END OF APRIL

There will be no play in the top two divisions of German football until at least 30 April following a unanimous decision by the assembly of the German Football League (DFL) on Tuesday afternoon. In a video conference attended by the 36 clubs, it was agreed to extend the current stoppage until the end of the month.
In taking the decision, the DFL assembly followed the recommendation made last week by the DFL executive committee to extend the suspension of all competition in view of the latest developments surrounding the coronavirus. The DFL assembly had previously agreed to postpone matchday activities until 2 April.
FCSP president Oke Göttlich, who sits on the DFL executive committee, said: "We collectively decided that play will not resume in whatever form until at least 30 April. With regard to the financial survival of every club and our social responsibility towards the people employed there, we are in agreement that it makes sense to play out the rest of the season to ensure the financial impact doesn't reach a point where we put jobs at risk. We're also discussing every future step with the politicians – both at regional and national level."
