NEW KITS UNVEILED

With just over three weeks to go before the start of the 2017/2018 season, St. Pauli and kit supplier Under Armour unveiled the new home, away and DFB Cup shirts on Wednesday.

The new shirts are made of Under Armour HeatGear® material. Weighing in at around 100 grams, the incredibly lightweight shirts feature Under Armour's quick-drying Signature Moisture Transport System, which wicks sweat away from the body to keep the wearer dry. The light four-way stretch material also improves freedom of movement and dries faster, while the fabric is body mapped to deliver strategic ventilation and keep the wearer cool even in the toughest weather conditions.

"When we signed off the designs for the new shirts with Under Armour more than 18 months ago, I particularly liked the fact that they incorporated various elements depicting the club, the stadium and the district," said St. Pauli president Oke Göttlich. "The home shirt in brown, white and red comes in the traditional club colours as well as the predominant colours in the stadium. The brick look of the white away shirts reflects the Millerntor and the cup shirt, with its graffiti look, touches on subcultural aspects from our quarter. Colour gradients inspired by street art overturn traditional interpretations and ways of thinking in all three shirts. It's all totally coherent and I like it very much."

Club secretary Andreas Rettig said: "A marked increase in shirt sales last season shows us that Under Armour shirts have met with an extremely positive response, both at home and abroad. I'm convinced this trend will continue with the new designs."

Chris Bate, Under Armour Vice President and Managing Director Europe, said: "We're looking forward to the new 2017/18 season. FC St. Pauli and Under Armour share the belief that culture passion and innovation are the key characteristics for an optimum collaboration and form the basis for great performance."

The shirts have gone down well with the players, too, as midfielder Bernd Nehrig explained: "We players feel we're in good hands at Under Armour as far as our 'workwear' is concerned. Both the shirts and the training gear offer perfect functionality and are even better this season. The shirts are a superb fit and so light. It's also cool to have a piece of the Millerntor with us whenever we play away from home."
