BURGSTALLER TO UNDERGO SURGERY

Monday's home game against FC Nürnberg ended very painfully for Guido Burgstaller. The striker was admitted to University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE) later that night on the instructions of the club doctors. The striker sustained an abdominal vascular injury, presumably during a challenge. He will now undergo surgery and will be out of action until further notice.
"This is a shock for all of us, but most of all for Guido himself. We hope he comes through the operation well and wish him a speedy recovery," said director of sport Andreas Bornemann.
Head coach Timo Schultz agreed: "We wish Guido a rapid recovery. Your health comes above all else and I look forward to the day when he returns to the training ground fit and well.
