NO ALTERNATIVE: HOME GAME AGAINST NÜRNBERG BEHIND CLOSED DOORS

Our home game against FC Nürnberg this Sunday will take place behind closed doors. The reason is a general ruling by the Authority for Health and Consumer Protection that prohibits the holding of events and gatherings with more than 1,000 people due to the latest developments surrounding the coronavirus. In view of the current situation, the club calls on everyone to act with solidarity.

We are aware of our responsibility as event organisers and there will be an option, of course, for fans to obtain a refund on tickets purchased as usual. Further details will follow. In light of the current situation, we have a established a task force. The club is in permanent contact with its board, the Fanladen and the competent authorities, and is acting responsibly, without panicking.

Further, fans of both clubs are requested not to gather at Millerntor Stadium on the day of the game to avoid the negative effects of having many people in a tight space. We would like to take this opportunity to appeal to all fans to act responsibly.

We realise that this development is not in the interest of football and the fans, but the health of our fellow citizens has to take priority. This requires us to be resolute in our actions which, unfortunately, may not be popular with supporters and others. For this reason, we call on the Bundesliga to show solidarity and would like to see the same conditions for all clubs for the rest of the season, to the extent the situation permits. Further, we believe it is incumbent upon the government and the association to take into account the financial implications in order to protect the integrity of the game and ensure solidarity within the leagues.

We are in close consultation with the competent authorities and appeal to everyone to deal with the situation responsibly.
