Tedesco succeeds Dotchev

Aue head coach Pavel Dotchev announced his resignation after the 4-1 defeat against Dynamo Dresden in the Saxony derby. A few days later the club appointed a successor in Domenico Tedesco, who put pen to paper on a contract to 30 June 2018 that is valid for both Bundesliga 2 and the third division. The 31-year-old spent seven years at VfB Stuttgart before joining TSG Hoffenheim in summer 2015, taking charge of the Under-19s a year later. In 2016 he completed his coaching badge with the best grade of all the course participants, including his friend and Hoffenheim coach Julian Nagelsmann.

Scoreless draw against Dinamo Brest

Like the Boys in Brown the Violets also used the international break to contest a friendly. While our friendly at Borussia Mönchengladbach produced a hatful of goals in a 4-4 draw, Aue's game against Belarusian first division side Dinamo Brest ended goalless. Domenico Tedesco made a host of changes at half-time, with only attacking players Clemens Fandrich and Sören Bertram playing the full 90 minutes.

Nazarov ends Germany's run of clean sheets

Joachim Löw's Germany had gone 678 minutes without conceding a goal until Azerbaijan's Dimitrij Nazarov, Aue's second-highest scorer this season behind Pascal Köpke (8) with five goals, ended their run on Sunday evening. His pinpoint effort in the World Cup qualifier beat Leverkusen goalkeeper Bernd Leno to level the scores at 1-1, though Germany would eventually go on to win 4-1. The last time the World Cup holders had conceded was in the Euro 2016 semi-final against France, when Antoine Griezmann was the scorer.

Ever-present Breitkreuz

Just seven players have played every minute of the current second division season and only two of them are outfield players, Aue centre-back Steve Breitkreuz and Kaiserslautern's Philipp Mwene. Breitkreuz, who scored the winner in Aue's 2-1 win at the Millerntor in the reverse fixture, has one of the best duels won percentages in the league, having won 67 per cent of all duels, which puts him in fourth place behind Sandhausen's Daniel Gordon (69.4 per cent), Dresden's Florian Ballas (69.1) and Hannover's Salif Sané (67.2).

Red-card Tiffert

While the Boys in Brown have ended every game this season with eleven players on the field, the Violets have already collected three sendings-off. In addition to a straight red card for Sebastian Hertner for a handball in the penalty box in the game against 1860 Munich, Christian Tiffert has had the dubious pleasure of taking two early baths against Fürth and Bochum. Oddly enough, both his dismissals came in the 88^th minute and if that wasn't strange enough, he was booked twice in five minutes against Fürth and twice in four minutes at Bochum.

Dangerous after the break

Aue are averaging a goal a game so far this season. Fourteen of those 25 strikes have come in the 30-minute period either side of the break. The Saxony outfit have been particularly effective after the interval: no other team can match their eight goals in the opening quarter of an hour of the second half. It's a different story from the 61^st minute, however. Five goals in the final 30 minutes is the lowest total in the league.
