"THE FANS GOT US OVER THE LINE TODAY" – THE POST-MATCH REACTION

The sense of relief in the St. Pauli camp was huge. Four months after their last home win, the Boys in Brown finally brought a winless run of eight games to an end. The mood in the mixed zone was correspondingly buoyant.

Uwe Stöver: "After a difficult start we fought our way into the game. The players signalled their presence and their determination to end the year with a win. They were the qualities needed to seal the victory tonight."

Lasse Sobiech: "In the huddle before the game we set out to claim the three points. In the opening stages we were nervous in our new lineup but after that we threw everything at it. Even I was surprised that I can score with my left foot. We had to win it in the end. Obviously we can't be satisfied with the way the season has gone so far, but before anything else we're going to celebrate this important win now. It's a nice way to sign off."

Jan-Marc Schneider: "My first goal at the Millerntor – an indescribable feeling. I'm delighted for the whole club that we won the game today. We all fought for each other. After the annoyance of conceding the goal, which was difficult to defend, we fought hard and kept things tight at the back. That stage of the game reminded you how loud it is at the Millerntor. The fans earned it today."

Robin Himmelmann: "We made things a bit difficult for ourselves early on. We gave the ball away too often, which allowed Bochum to get into the game better. We raised our game, however, came more into it and I'm just glad we got the three points and can go into the winter break on a positive. All wins are incredibly important, but today's was even more significant after the long negative run. It showed we can still do it."

Johannes Flum: "The win feels so good. The last few weeks were really bad, but we can go into the break feeling positive now. We deserved to win today despite having a lot of players missing – it was all about mentality. We fought to the end. The way you present yourself is always important and I'm proud of how we did that today."

Daniel Buballa: "We were solid today, took the fight to our opponents and tried to keep it simple. It worked well and we didn't give them many chances. We functioned as a team and we have to build on that."

Yiyoung Park: "I struggled in the first 30 minutes but gradually got into the game. The lads gave me great support. The three points are what matters in the end. The fans got us over the line today. The three points are a nice Christmas present for them."

Stefano Celozzi (VfL Bochum): "It's hard to take for us. We tried everything and pushed hard. As the game wore on, we got the sledgehammer out but couldn't find a second goal. We started well but then made things difficult for ourselves because we stopped winning the tackles and allowed them more of the ball."

Lukas Hinterseer (VfL Bochum): "We're obviously very disappointed because we wanted to keep our run going and go into the winter break on a positive note. We dominated the play at times and overall our development is positive. We want to build on that in the new year."

Felix Dornebusch (VfL Bochum): "The result is frustrating, of course. We were hoping for something different. We had the first ten minutes under control but then allowed St. Pauli back into it unnecessarily. We let them come at us and gave away too many set pieces."
