Director of sport Uwe Stöver has completed another important piece of his squad planning for the new season. Central defender Christopher Avevor has signed an extension to his contract, which was due to expire at the end of the season, until 30 June 2023.
"It's a commitment by Jackson and at the same time a clear signal from us that we want to work together long term," said director of sport Uwe Stöver. "Jackson has progressed very positively and he's a key factor in our defensive setup."
Head coach Markus Kauczinski also considers the centre-back an important cornerstone of the squad: "His robustness, pace, and aerial and tackling ability are what make him stand out. Jackson leads from the front on the pitch and is a player others can base themselves on."
Christopher Avevor is delighted to continue his journey with the Boys in Brown: "I'm glad to have signed a long-term contract at St. Pauli and am very grateful for the trust the club have placed in me," he said. "I'm happy with the way the team is developing and that I can continue to be a part of it all."
Avevor has made 93 competitive appearances and scored three goals in two spells with the club (2012/13, 2016-).
