"WE LOST THE RESOLVE" – THE POST-MATCH REACTION

Players and officials alike were unhappy with the point after Friday evening's 1-1 draw with Erzgebirge Aue at the Millerntor. Here's some of the reaction from the mixed zone.

Uwe Stöver (director of sport): "We're doing a lot of things right, we're creating chances, but unfortunately we can't manage to build on our lead. At times we lack killer instinct and composure. All in all, 1-1 is not enough for the effort we put in.

Christopher Buchtmann: "We had a good first half really. It took us a while to get going but after 15 minutes we were in the game. When we go one up we simply have to add another. That we then concede another daft goal from a set piece is really annoying. We'd had the chances to extend our lead, after all. At the moment I can't tell why we weren't belligerent enough in the second half."

Mats Møller Dæhli: "In the first 45 minutes we pressed Aue early and attacked the spaces aggressively. We should have gone in 2-0 up. Aue showed they're a good team after the interval, though we weren't resolute enough in the final third. We have to keep going now. I'm so sorry for the fans. They give us great support, but we can't manage to win for them at the Millerntor."

Luca Zander: "A point is not enough today. We contributed more on the pitch than we had in our hands at the end. Unfortunately, in the second half we lost the resolve we showed in the first, and it's always annoying to concede from a set piece because it can be avoided."

Jeremy Dudziak: "We had analysed the opposition before the game and in the first half we made good use of the spaces. We simply have to be more consistent in front of goal in future. When we go a goal up, we have to try and get a second straightaway. The next high-intensity game now awaits us at Union Berlin."

Daniel Buballa: "We got into the game well in the first half, controlled the proceedings and got the opening goal, which ought to have played into our hands really. But after the break we were pegged back more and more and conceded an awful goal from a set piece. I'm gutted!"

Robin Himmelmann: "Obviously we can't be satisfied with the result – 1-1 is not a good feeling. We take the lead, like we did against Kaiserslautern in our last home game, and then surrender it from a set piece. In general, we didn't give much away today and had a number of opportunities ourselves, but a lot of our shots were blocked. In the second half we didn't have that many clear-cut chances."

Bernd Nehrig: "On the one hand we weren't able to keep a clean sheet, on the other we failed to get a second goal. We wanted to go two up, but without relinquishing any space for a good counterattacking side like Aue to make use of. Nothing happened until they scored. We didn't defend with enough energy there."

Fabian Kalig (Erzgebirge Aue): "The atmosphere here is incredible. The fans went full throttle for 90 minutes. It was an even contest overall and we're happy to come away with a deserved point."

Pascal Köpke (Erzgebirge Aue): "It was like last year when we also went behind. We were too passive in the first half. In the second we pressed them and scored a deserved equaliser. We're happy to take a point."

Christian Tiffert (Erzgebirge Aue): "My head injury is hellish. Maybe we needed it at that stage of the game. We played with intelligence and tried to pass our way out instead of hoofing the ball clear. You have to take a point at St. Pauli then."
