BOYS IN BROWN BATTLE TO POINT AGAINST FCN
A sell-out 29,546 crowd at the Millerntor saw a combative performance from a motivated St. Pauli side that eventually earned them a 1-1 draw against Nürnberg. After a bright start by the home side Christopher Buchtmann opened the scoring in the sixth minute, only for FCN to hit back through Guido Burgstaller on 20. In an evenly balanced game the Boys in Brown had opportunities to win it but they were unable to find a way past the impressive Thorsten Kirschbaum.

It’s rare to see a manager afforded time in the modern era of football. A few bad results and the blame generally lands at the managers door and ends in them being removed from their position. Why? Because it’s the only thing you can change. You can’t remove the entire board, you can’t change the entire squad and start again, but you can quite easily bring in a different management team in the hope that it’ll produce an upward turn in form.

Hertha BSC are comfortably through to the Third Round of the DFB-Pokal with a 2-0 victory in Hamburg over FC St. Pauli. Die Freibeuter are bottom of the 2. Bundesliga but put in a resolute display, with their defences only breached late on in the first half by Mitchell Weiser.
