THY BEMOANS UNFORTUNATE DEFEAT
A crowd of 29,546 at the Millerntor witnessed an entertaining contest against VfB Stuttgart, who clinched a slightly fortunate win with the only goal of the game late on. Afterwards there was real disappointment in the St. Pauli camp, of course. Here are some of the post-match statements.

BATTLING BOYS IN BROWN UNDONE BY LATE STUTTGART WINNER
A late goal was enough to condemn the Boys in Brown to a 1-0 defeat against VfB Stuttgart in front of another sell-out crowd at the Millerntor on matchday 18. Waldemar Sobota hit the bar on the stroke of half-time before substitute Carlos Mané struck an 84th minute winner for the visitors. A hard defeat to take on resumption of the league campaign.

Over the years we’ve had several emails from people wanting advice on setting up St. Pauli fanclubs in England. So many that we’ve become quite dubious of them and whether people just think they can set up a fanclub as a easy way of getting tickets (note – we get no special preference!) or a few followers on social media.

AT LAST! LEAGUE CAMPAIGN RESUMES AGAINST STUTTGART
The Boys in Brown welcome VfB Stuttgart to the Millerntor at 1330 CET on Sunday when Bundesliga 2 returns after a 43-day winter break. Both teams go into the second half of the season determined to kick off with a win to move a step closer to reaching their respective season goals.

Two days before the visit of third-placed VfB Stuttgart, director of sport Andreas Rettig and head Coach Ewald Lienen faced the Hamburg media. Rettig focused on the club's transfer activities in his remarks, while Lienen spoke about his selection difficulties and Sunday's opponents.

TWIN DEFEATS AGAINST ZURICH AND KYIV
On the penultimate day of their Spanish training camp the Boys in Brown slipped to a 2-0 defeat against Swiss second division leaders FC Zurich. Oliver Buff from the spot and Roberto Rodriguez in second half stoppage time were the scorers. Champions League participants Dynamo Kyiv provided the opposition in the evening. Jeremy Dudziak grabbed a consolation goal in a 3-1 defeat.

HEDENSTAD TARGETS CONFIDENCE BOOST IN REMAINING WARM-UP GAMES
He's only been at the club for about half a season but already he's being followed to Hamburg by some of his former teammates. Vegar Eggen Hedenstad hasn't always been able to train with Johannes Flum and compatriot Mats Møller Dæhli in Sotogrande due to a tight muscle. The Norwegian resumed full training on Thursday morning, however.
